No one likes to do it but it’s important.
Balancing your checking account/checkbook is a habit you should form early on, for good money management skills. It’s important to check your account often to monitor transactions and keep it balanced so you have a better idea of how much money you have to spend.
Here is why:
- Verifies that your checkbook register matches MCCU’s records, as shown on your monthly statement.
- Helps identify mistakes or fraud. It could also help find a missed ATM withdrawal, debit card purchase, or other transaction that could have caused an overdraft because you didn’t have enough funds.
- Monthly is good, but weekly is even better!
eBranch allows you to view account transactions anytime, day or night. This includes printing/viewing checks that have cleared your account.
eStatements are free and it’s a great way to save them to your computer for future reference. No more piles of papers!
